Asian cinema: 3 idiots

(3 idiots, 2009)

'3 Idiots', it is a popular film that I have heard it from a long time ago. However it is very popular,but I did not watch it until today's screening. I am exited to watch it because there is a actor that I like, Aamir Khan. I have watched two movies that he is the leading actor, PK(2014) and Dhoom 3(2013).

Farhan, 'Rancho' and Raju are attending the class with their course mates.

The plot of the film is about the uni life of 'Rancho', Raju and Farhan. It starts with the 2 friends are very desperate to meet their old friend,' Rancho', who has disappeared since their graduation. On the way, they trying to get to 'Rancho', their uni life have been recalled. They face some problems when they were finding 'Rancho'. First, they meet the real 'Rancho', who at first doesn't wanted to tell them the truth. They used the fake container to force the real 'Rancho' to say where is the 'Rancho' they knew in the university. After that incident, they get the address of 'Rancho'. Second, when they are going to 'Rancho', they remember Pia, the one who is in love with 'Rancho'. They decided to go Pia's wedding to get her to 'Rancho'. At first, Pia doesn't wanted to go with them. Later, Pia finally decided to follow her heart and leave her wedding. Eventually, they all found 'Rancho' at a primary school that is far away from city. 'Rancho' now is a teacher, but also a scientist who has 400 patents work for him. 'Rancho''s real name is Phunsukh Wangdu.

I can know this is an Indian film by just watching the film without hearing the voice as it has so many Indian culture in the film. There are some scenes are showing about their believes. I can see that they have many believes just by the scene that all students are praying for their results.
At the first day, Raju was praying to the God.
Other than that, the wedding scenes also have somethings that are represented their own culture, such as when the three friends are wearing the pink color head piece when they enter the wedding place, Pia is wearing the beautiful wedding saree and the jewelries for her own wedding.

The Indian movies are famous for their dancing and singing scenes. I heard from someone before that if the Indian movies have not included the dancing and singing scene, the public will not watch it. So, in my impression, most of the Indian movies that I watched have included those popular scenes. In '3 idiots', there are 2 examples for the dancing and singing scenes. First, the scene that 'Rancho' wants to tell Raju not to fear of it, but face it. Second, when Pia finds out she is in love with 'Rancho'.

(Spirited Away, 2001) I think everyone will unfamiliar with the film "Spirited Away". It is the most popular film which is directed by Hayao Miyazaki. My first time of watching this movie is about 12 years ago, like 7 or 8 years old. I have frighten by one scene of that movie, which is the protagonist's parents have turned into big fat pigs after eating the God's food. After so many years, now I realized what are the hidden meanings in this movie, which is very educating and have the value of thinking. (The parent of Chihiro had turned into pigs after eating the God's food.) The plot of the film is about the on the way of moving their house, the protagonist's family had accidentally went into the other world, which is the world for the God. Due to the protagonist's parent had turned into pigs after eating God's food, so the family was stuck in that world. Asian Cinema: Chung King Express

(Chungking Express, 1994) I am surprised that we were screening Chinese film, but at the same time I was like having a thought of will I understand what is the film telling. I had watched one movie before that is directed by Wong Kar Wai director, which I also cannot fully understand what is the director trying to convey the messages to us. There are two story included in one film and the main characters of the second story can be seen in the first story frequently. When the first story's protagonist came out from the snack bar he always go, he met the heroine of the second story, who is the cousin of the snack bar's owner. (The mysterious blonde wig woman and Cop 223 was in the bar.)  The first story's plot is about the protagonist, Cop 223, who had broke up with his girlfriend and met a mysterious blonde wig woman that is involved in drug smuggling.On May 1, the protagonist approached the woman in blonde wig.
