Asian Cinema: Chung King Express

(Chungking Express, 1994) I am surprised that we were screening Chinese film, but at the same time I was like having a thought of will I understand what is the film telling. I had watched one movie before that is directed by Wong Kar Wai director, which I also cannot fully understand what is the director trying to convey the messages to us. There are two story included in one film and the main characters of the second story can be seen in the first story frequently. When the first story's protagonist came out from the snack bar he always go, he met the heroine of the second story, who is the cousin of the snack bar's owner. (The mysterious blonde wig woman and Cop 223 was in the bar.)  The first story's plot is about the protagonist, Cop 223, who had broke up with his girlfriend and met a mysterious blonde wig woman that is involved in drug smuggling.On May 1, the protagonist approached the woman in blonde wig. Asian Cinema: Spirited Away

(Spirited Away, 2001) I think everyone will unfamiliar with the film "Spirited Away". It is the most popular film which is directed by Hayao Miyazaki. My first time of watching this movie is about 12 years ago, like 7 or 8 years old. I have frighten by one scene of that movie, which is the protagonist's parents have turned into big fat pigs after eating the God's food. After so many years, now I realized what are the hidden meanings in this movie, which is very educating and have the value of thinking. (The parent of Chihiro had turned into pigs after eating the God's food.) The plot of the film is about the on the way of moving their house, the protagonist's family had accidentally went into the other world, which is the world for the God. Due to the protagonist's parent had turned into pigs after eating God's food, so the family was stuck in that world. (3 idiots, 2009) '3 Idiots', it is a popular film that I have heard it from a long time ago. However it is very popular,but I did not watch it until today's screening. I am exited to watch it because there is a actor that I like, Aamir Khan. I have watched two movies that he is the leading actor, PK(2014) and Dhoom 3(2013). Farhan, 'Rancho' and Raju are attending the class with their course mates. The plot of the film is about the uni life of 'Rancho', Raju and Farhan. It starts with the 2 friends are very desperate to meet their old friend,' Rancho', who has disappeared since their graduation. On the way, they trying to get to 'Rancho', their uni life have been recalled. They face some problems when they were finding 'Rancho'. (Amelie, 2001) 'Amelie', the film that we screened today was 'Amelie'. I found it is quite interesting because the film is a bit weird...... Ya... I think weird is the word that can represent the film. Amelie found the metal box The plot of the film is all about how Amelie helped others to find their happiness and finally gained her own happiness by beginning a relationship with Nino. The film is quite confusing at the front part because the opening there are some montage that does not related to the film. However, when Amelie accidentally dropped the perfume cover and discovered a metal box, she decided to return the metal box to its master, the film started to be more normal compare to the opening. Amelie also decided to do good secretly if the metal box's master is happy with the appearance of it. Let's talk about the film techniques that is used in the film. (Run Lola Run, 1998) Today, we have screened the film 'Run Lola Run' in our Film Studies class. We all kind of excited by the movie as we heard the background music of the film. The animation opening of the film also let me have the interest in watching it. The plot of the film is about Lola, the heroine, kept on running for 100,000 marks to save her boyfriend, Manni's life. The film is presented like a video game, when you die or cannot make it, you can start your game over again from your save point. In this film, the total of Lola's run is three times. In each of her running have a different plot for it. Let's talk about the editing techniques that has been used by the director, Tom Tykwer in this film. The director used a lot of jump cuts in this film to show the tension and the fast-paced feeling. The running scenes are using the jump cuts to gives the effect of jumping forward of time.
